45 Years of Vimor

In Nov 2019, we celebrated Vimor’s 45-year journey of conserving handloom inheritance. This 5-day event at the Bangalore International Centre, was woven through a saree exhibition, a series of interactive sessions with handloom experts, curated walks through the exhibits, workshops (for both children & adults) and each day was concluded with a program including a fashion show choreographed by Prasad Bidapa.

The Vimor Museum of Living Textiles – Inauguration

Pavithra fulfilled her long cherished dream when the Vimor Foundation inaugurated ‘The Vimor Museum of Living Textiles’, a space to preserve and showcase unique textile designs and heirlooms owned by people across India and the personal collection of Vimor. Here are a few snapshots of the evenful launch day.

The Indira Gandhi Centenary Year Show

Pavithra was invited by the Gandhi family to recreate some of the sarees from Indira Gandhi’s personal collection for the Centenary Year celebrations. Her collection of sarees included pieces from all across the country and Pavithra had just a few hours to spend with the sarees before heading back to recreate them from memory. Here are some memories from the show that was organised at Bikaner House, New Delhi in Nov 2017.

Rajasthan Heritage Week – 2017

The Rajasthan Heritage Week in collaboration with the Rajasthan Government is an attempt to give a renewed look to Rajasthan’s traditional crafts. Vimor worked with traditional weavers and artisans who had never worked with sarees before, to create Gomat Sarees which were put on show at the Fashion Show.
